John Dienes

Managing Director

Mr. Dienes is a Managing Director in the Real Estate Investment Group of Commerce Street Capital, LLC. Mr. Dienes joined Commerce Street Capital in 2014. Mr. Dienes’ primary focus is introducing his vast network of bankers and corporate executives to private placements. He headed the highly successful capital raise of Class A Units for Sealy Strategic Equity Partners, L.P., raising in excess of $132 million.

He started his career with Republic National Bank (which was subsequently acquired by Bank of America) where he assumed positions of increased responsibilities culminating as Director of Corporate Banking for Bank of America.

Mr. Dienes was President of a NYSE listed corporation that was one of the largest originators of non-conforming mortgage loans in the country. Additional responsibilities included the securitizing over $10 billion in ABS securities.

In 2000, Mr. Dienes reentered commercial banking where he was hired to expand an LPO (Loan Production Office) to a full service banking operation in Dallas/Ft. Worth. After growing loans to over $1 billion and deposits to over $500 million, the bank was sold to Citibank in 2004. He remained with Citi as President of Dallas/Ft. Worth until 2008. In 2008, Mr. Dienes was hired to bring his professional experience to put in place policies, procedures and banking discipline for a $1 billion bank that had come under regulatory scrutiny. He was able to stabilize the bank and preclude ultimate regulatory action and was successful in the bank being sold in 2014.

Mr. Dienes has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University, an MBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University and is a graduate of the Southwestern School of Banking. He holds Series 7 and 66 licenses.
