Benjamin J. Michael
Benjamin J. Michael joined Commerce Street Capital in June of 2016, and focuses on all aspects of buy and sell-side mandates in the mergers and acquisitions process as well as sponsored equity (independent sponsor / merchant banking) transactions. Prior to joining Commerce Street Capital, Mr. Michael spent 12 years in operational roles in various industries including a nine-year career as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps Infantry where he completed five overseas assignments and was awarded several personal awards for valor in combat. He has lived abroad in various countries for five combined years and has extensive international experience in over 30 countries. These experiences have afforded him the opportunity to work with and advise a vast and diverse client base from around the world. After exiting the Marines in 2013 he was a project manager for a commercial engineering and construction company where he managed over 30 projects accounting for over $30M of revenue.
Mr. Michael joined the Corporate Investment Banking team at Commerce Street Capital after completing his MBA at Southern Methodist University. He brings diverse industry operational experience, resolute mission accomplishment, and over a decade of human capital management to the Commerce Street team. Mr. Michael completed his undergraduate studies at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he received a BS in Quantitative Economics, played Division I football and was student officer-in-charge of 160 Midshipmen of the 16th Company.
In his spare time Mr. Michael enjoys volunteering in a variety of ways including as the Treasurer of the Naval Academy Alumni Association of North Texas, a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused and neglected children, and is a member of the board of directors for Light Up to Live Foundation, a Dallas based 501(c)(3) non-profit directly benefiting military veterans that suffer from depression, PTS, and TBI. He enjoys traveling, snowboarding, boating and sailing, wine and scotch tasting, and is in a perpetual search for the next epic adventure.
He is a registered representative and holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses.
